Chelsea Joy Handler was born on the 25th of February, 1975, located in Livingston, New Jersey. She was one of the six youngest children. Handler was the child of a salesman as well as a domestic worker. Her mother is a German who came to her home in United States from Germany in 1958. In 1989, she was diagnosed with cancer, and passed away ten years afterward. Handler's dad was Jewish so she brought up Reform Judaism. Handler was blessed with a joyful, healthy childhood living in a safe neighborhood. Her move to Los Angeles when she was 19, in order to pursue a career in acting. Handler was obliged to be an actress in order to make ends meet. Her ability to tell stories was uncovered as she reached the age of 21. Handler then decided to devote her full-time career in stand-up comedy. Handler's career began as part of an all-female Oxygen TV show in the reality show with a hidden camera and practical humor series Girls Behaving Uncooperatively. This reality TV show was on from 2002 to 2005. The handler started appearing on various other programs such like Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler started her career as a correspondent on The Tonight Show. Handler made her breakthrough in 2006 when she started hosting her own show on E! named The Chelsea Handler Show. The show lasted for two seasons. In the following year, Handler performed on the Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all broadcasted her stand-up shows. Her name was chosen to host the MTV's 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in 2010. She was the second female host in the same category as Roseanne.
